" Mappa Mundi"

Jumana Manna's Mappa Mundi at the Pilgrim Center and Oppland's millennial site Dale-Gudbrand's farm, gives associations to monuments in stone or memorials laid on symbolic grounds.

The sculpture is in this case a stone mosaic that reproduces the so-called Hereford Mappa Mundi, the most famous and oldest preserved of the medieval religious world maps. The abstract rendering of the map symbolizes a connection to our own time, where globalization is ubiquitous and forms a fragmented and porous boundary towards ourselves.

Mappa Mundi is located by the Pilgrim Center, Dale-Gudbrands Gard in Hundorp.
